On a largely party line vote, the House has passed a conservative deficit reduction plan known as "Cut, Cap and Balance" on a 234-190 vote. The bill includes caps on spending and a balanced budget amendment, but it has little chance of passing the Democratic-controlled Senate and faces a veto threat from President Barack Obama.

Actions to Prevent the Slow Deaths of Medicare and America's Middle Class
Hello Everyone,
I received a request to sign a petition from Guy Cecil writing on behalf of the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee. The message is as follows:

Just when you think Republican priorities can’t possibly get any worse, they do. The latest: Republicans are demanding that we shift even more money to the wealthiest elite through huge tax cuts. They are unwilling to protect Medicare. This shows once and for all whose side they’re on – and it’s certainly not the middle class.
We need a strong show of opposition to their despicable priorities – 100,000 Democrats standing for Medicare and our nation’s middle class. Will you sign our petition, then pass it on to family and friends through Facebook and Twitter?
Republicans need to know that we will NOT stand by as they destroy Medicare and the middle class while coddling huge corporations and billionaires. The GOP End Medicare Plan must be off the table. Add your voice.
