The Site

Evelyn here, but only briefly.

I went the Ink and Blood  exhibit at the Florida International Museum yesterday.  Afterward, I then made a day of it and saw Underworld: Evolution and Peter Jackson's King Kong. They were great. I will give a more detail report on these in another entry. I want the report that The Woman Within website it ready to be posted. However, it will have to wait until this evening or Tuesday evening.  I want review uploading web pages procedures first.  The less mistakes I make, the easier and faster I will get the site up and running.  Also, this blog will remain private until I add a link from  it to the newly made website without the controls boxes on the blog showing.  The control boxes showing is an educated guess on my part. However, it is best to be safe than sorry.

The Woman Within The Website

Evelyn here,

Well, I have put a lot of work into putting the web site together.  Yes, I doing it myself.  It is great fun, and I have learned a great deal.  As for the web pages, I am into the editing stage.  I am please with my results so far, and I should have the site up no later than this Sunday evening if I do not encounter any problems uploading.

I have also received a proposal to start a women group with a friend.  She thinks we should be able to launch The Woman Within as a weekly group at our church. We must first obtain permission from our parish. If it is granted, then we will meet one night a week on the church's grounds. I like the idea, but at the same time it is a little scary.

The blog and my newly made web site would remain regardless of whether a group is successful or not.  We would be seeking to make the meeting a support group based on the topics I have outlined on this blog.  The subject of women, women careers, health, education and safety issues. In short, all things pertaining the what makes us women.  You could think of it as an up front bonding of women.  More on this in the future.  It is still in the talking stage.

As for the my web site, unlike this blog, it will be public.  However, there will be a link on the web site to the blog making it public.  I can not change the blob to public using the commands here without losing all the data and graphics I have placed on it.  The only way preserve everything is by a physical link the a web site.  I will also replace the comments option section.  So far, all who have seen these pages possess the direct address either given by me or passed on by someone.  I never intended for the blog to remain private. When I created it, I was not knowledgeable of the fact that I could lose data if I changed to public status.  At first, I think I wanted to see how well the blog would do, and now it is going the merge with a web site of the same name.  Not bad for this little old freelancer. I am happy with that perception.

Have a good Friday.

The Brick

Evelyn here,

This was originally emailed from Lawrence to Marcia to me.

I took the liberty to clean up of some of the stray explanation points flowing around in this otherwise well written story. If they (the explanation points) were serving a purpose, the writer may contact me. The contents of the story made the writer’s point. Good job!

And now …

**********

THE BRICK

A young and successful executive was traveling down a neighborhood street, going a bit too fast in his new Jaguar. He was watching for kids darting out from between parked cars and slowed down when he thought he saw something. As his car passed, no children appeared. Instead, a brick smashed into the Jag's side door! He slammed on the brakes and backed the Jag back to the spot where the brick had been thrown. The angry driver then jumped out of the car, grabbed the nearest kid and pushed him up against a parked car shouting.

"What was that all about and who are you? Just what the heck are you doing? That's a new car and that brick you threw is going to cost a lot of money. Why did you do it?"

The young boy was apologetic. "Please, mister...please, I'm sorry but I didn't know what else to do," He pleaded. "I threw the brick because no one else would stop..." With tears dripping down his face and off his chin, the youth pointed to a spot just around a parked car. "It's my brother, "he said. “ He rolled off the curb and fell out of his wheelchair and I can't lift him up."

Now sobbing, the boy asked the stunned executive, "Would you please help me get him back into his wheelchair? He's hurt and he's too heavy for me."

Moved beyond words, the driver tried to swallow the rapidly swelling lump in his throat. He hurriedly lifted the handicapped boy back into the wheelchair, then took out a linen handkerchief, and dabbed at the fresh scrapes and cuts. A quick look told him everything was going to be okay.

"Thank you and may God bless you," the grateful child told the stranger. Too shook up for words, the man simply watched the boy push his wheelchair-bound brother down the sidewalk toward their home.

It was a long, slow walk back to the Jaguar. The damage was very noticeable, but the driver never bothered to repair the dented side door. He kept the dent there to remind him of this message:

"Don't go through life so fast that someone has to throw a brick at you to get your attention!" God whispers in our souls and speaks to our hearts. Sometimes when we don't have time to listen, He has to throw a brick at us. It's our choice to listen or not.

Thought for the Day:

If God had a refrigerator, your picture would be on it.

If He had a wallet, your photo would be in it.

He sends you flowers every spring.

He sends you a sunrise every morning Face it, friend - He iscrazy about you!

Send this to every "beautiful person" you wish to bless.

God didn't promise days without pain, laughter without sorrow, sun without rain, but He did promise strength for the day, comfort for the tears, and light for the way.

Read this line very slowly and letit sink in...

If God brings you to it, He will bring you through it.

Pass this message to seven people except you and me.

You will receive a miracle tomorrow.  Just do it!

The Kiss

Evelyn here,

Below is a soul warming story that has the strength to melt the coldest of hearts.  I want to thank Edwin who sent it to my friend Marcia, who with her great heart, thought to sent it to me. Now for --

*****************

The Kiss...

He had just saved her from a fire in  her house, rescuing her by
carrying
her
out of the house into her front yard,  while he continued to fight the
fire.

She is pregnant.

When he  finally got done putting the fire out, he sat down to catch
his
breath and rest.

A photographer from the Charlotte, North Carolina newspaper, "The
Observer,"
noticed her in the distance looking at the fireman.

He saw  her walking straight toward the fireman and wondered what she
was
going to  do.

As he raised his camera, she came up to the tired man who had  saved
her
life
and the lives of her babies and kissed him just as the  photographer
snapped
this photograph.

The New Year

Evelyn here.

It has been an interesting holiday season.  The new year came in without my really noticing it, but I was in a happy frame of mind.  I am seeking change this year -- major change.  It involves work and home and a total new lifestyle if thing goes right. I have done my  part but there are always others whom one must work with for any change to take place.

I have been very honest about my feelings and thoughts on concerned matters that have never found resolution because there are a lot mean-spirited people out there. They live to cause problems for others and nothing anyone else say changes them.  I pity them because I know that I was fighting ignorance, and ignorance keep a people in the dark.  There is nothing that neither I nor anyone else can do for them and the saddest thing is they do not see the wrong.

As for me, I am looking forward to a special summer. I got my digital camera and a tripod and I am just waiting for the summer events to start.  I have also been working on my web page.  I could easily build one useing AOL, but I want to add a lot of different pages and graphics. I will add a link to this blog. I put a great deal of work into this page, and it has become my place to just let go.  At first, I was shy about it, but after viewing other blogs and some web pages, what I am doing is right in there with the rest of them.  This will keep me busy until my plans return with fruit. Until then, pray for me.

A REMINDER:  This blog is generally centered on women and women interests, so many of the links here are to benefit the health, welfare, and advancment of women and their children. Many who view this blog might be surprised by some of the links.  However, you or someone you know might one day be in need of the services these govrnment agencies provide. Copy the shortcuts here to create your own links which might someday become a life saving gift.
