McCain and Clinton - Big Super Tuesday Winners with California at Their Backs

with a few words before turning in for the night. According to the Associated Press and Politico.Com, the following candidates are the big winners of the Super Tuesday were McCain for the GOP and Hillary Clinton for the Democrats.

 

 

02.06.08 – John McCain wins the California Republican primary, the Associated Press projects. Hillary Rodham Clinton wins California, the single biggest Super Tuesday prize.

 

Mitt Romney and Barack Obama win the Colorado caucuses, and the Associated Press reverses its prediction that Hillary Rodham Clinton will win Missouri, now saying it is too close to call.

 

 John McCain wins the Missouri GOP primary, while Barack Obama comes out top in the Idaho Democratic caucuses and Hillary Rodham Clinton takes Arizona's Democratic primary.

 

Barack Obama wins the Alaska Democratic caucuses.

 

Mitt Romney wins GOP caucuses in Alaska.

 

Barack Obama wins Missouri Democratic primary in a come-from-behind victory where Hillary Rodham Clinton had originally been projected the winner.

 

02.05.08 - John McCain wins his home state of Arizona, while Mike Huckabee takes Tennessee, AP reports.

 

Republican Mitt Romney picks up caucus victories in Minnesota and Montana.

 

Hillary Rodham Clinton wins the Missouri Democratic primary; Barack Obama takes the Minnesota Democratic caucus and Mitt Romney wins the GOP North Dakota caucus.

 

Mike Huckabee wins the Georgia Republican primary, AP projects.

 

Barack Obama wins the Democratic caucuses in North Dakota and Kansas, plus the Connecticut primary, AP reports.

 

Republican Mitt Romney picksup his second win of the night, in Utah, where Barack Obama beat Hillary Rodham Clinton. John McCain wins the GOP race in

Oklahoma.

 

 John McCain wins the New York Republican primary, according to the Associated Press.

 

Hillary Rodham Clinton wins the Democratic primary in Massachusetts, while Barack Obama takes Delaware.

 

 John McCain picks up a GOP primary win in Delaware, while Mike Huckabee takes Alabama. Hillary Rodham Clinton wins her home state of New York in the Democratic primary, according to several news organizations.

 

   John McCain wins GOP races in Connecticut, Illinois and New Jersey, while Mitt Romney wins Barack Obama takes Illinois and Hillary Rodham Clinton wins Oklahoma.

 

Barack Obama wins the Democratic primary in Georgia, the Associated Press and other organizations project.

According to reporter Bill Nichols, “Each party took part in more than 20 primaries and caucuses with a treasure trove of delegates at stake: 1,023 on the GOP side and 1,681 for Democrats.
