CRIST PROMOTES THE FREE WIRELESS AMBER ALERTS PROGRAM

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn Here,

I have an older news release from the office of our Attorney General, Charles Crist. I have been so occupied with other matters that I am now reviewing much of the information in my possession. However, and regardless of its age, I think this news release is worth posting.

CRIST PROMOTES FREE WIRELESS AMBER ALERTS PROGRAM,
                       ENCOURAGES FLORIDIANS TO SUBSCRIBE

TALLAHASSEE - Attorney General Charlie Crist today announced that his
office is helping bring free Wireless AMBER Alerts to more Floridians,
making it easier for citizens to assist in efforts to locate abducted
children. Crist said the Attorney General’s website will now feature a
direct link to sign up for the free wireless service, in a move designed to
raise public awareness of the Wireless AMBER Alerts initiative and
encourage Floridians to subscribe to the service.

The Attorney General’s Office is joining with The Wireless
Foundation, the National Center for Missing & Exploited Children® (NCMEC)
and the U.S. Department of Justice to promote the Wireless AMBER Alerts
initiative. The AMBER Alert program was created in 1997 when Dallas-Fort
Worth broadcasters teamed up with local law enforcement to develop an early
warning system to find abducted children. The program has grown so that now
90 percent of Americans with wireless devices may receive localized AMBER
Alerts as free text messages, instantly raising awareness of recent child
abductions and often producing valuable information on the child’s
whereabouts.

”Every minute a child is missing is a minute too long,” said Crist.
“We must take every action possible to help ensure that children are safely
returned to their loved ones as quickly as possible. This program saves
lives.”

AMBER stands for “America’s Missing: Broadcast Emergency Response”
and was also named after Amber Hagerman, the Texas girl whose abduction and
murder led to creation of the Alert system.

“It is our hope that by enlisting the more than 13 million Florida
wireless subscribers in the Wireless AMBER Alerts Initiative, we can
greatly increase the likelihood of recovering an abducted child during this
critical time period,” said Steve Largent, president and CEO of CTIA-The
Wireless Association and president of The Wireless Foundation. “Wireless
technology has given us the ability to become the guardian angels of our
communities, and I urge Florida residents everywhere to sign up today.”

“We can all help keep children safer by participating in the free
Wireless AMBER Alerts program,” added Ernie Allen, NCMEC president and CEO.
“To date, more than 300 children have been successfully recovered as a
direct result of an AMBER Alert, and we hope to bring even more children
home with the help of Florida’s citizens.”

Subscribers can sign up for free text message alerts through the
Attorney General's home page at http://www.myfloridalegal.com or through
the Wireless AMBER Alerts home page at http://www.wirelessamberalerts.org.
Crist encouraged Floridians to access the site and subscribe to the program
in an effort to continue keeping Florida’s children safe.

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn here,

Today, I read an email that stated that all over the counter medications, containing the drug addictive phenylpropanolamine (PPA) has been recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) is commonly used in conjunction with the preparation of OTC nasal decongestants and weight control products. BTCC YOUTH MINISTRY

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn Here,

It has being a fast and busy week for me. I have has some successes and unexpected achievements. Last weekend at this time, I was away on a Christian Retreat out near Crystal Lake with our youth group. I found the experience both spiritually and emotional rewarding. I love the county and it was a pleasure to venture in a part of it again. I came back feeling renewed. It has been close to 20 years since I have spent any time away from city life and the first visit to the county in this state.

As I stated in one of my previous entries I will be making some changes in my life and moving on to a future that I lay in God's hands. I will to working a part-time job as well as my full job, but my involvement in our youth ministry has changed to an administrative position with my working on the youth's group website.

Right now, the site is simply called the "Youth Ministry", which hurts my creative senses. However, I intend to jazz that up a bit with "Welcome ToThe  BTCC Youth Ministry". BTCC stands for Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. One of the great things about working on the site is that I can work from home and utilizes all the photos and information I have gathered and will gather related to the youth group activities. Once I have completed some minor reconstruction of the site, I will add its link to the link area of this blog.

I am also still in the contemporary choir, but I have dropped the traditional choir for now. With any luck, I will participate in "Lessons in Chorals” and the up and coming return John Michael Talbot with a new concert. This new concert is scheduled to happen during our Lent season of 2007.

Overall, I am doing well. The picture above was taken at the retreat area owned by one of our YM families. I shot it very early on that Saturday morning, which was October 14, 2006. The view is just breath taking, and truly falls in the category of “Picture Perfect”.

FALLEN –ARE THE ANGELS AMONG US?

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn Here,

Just when I thought that fantasy was becoming humdrum and the magic that brought millions of viewers from around the world to their television sets was becoming a thing to be remembered the ABC Family Channel premieres Fallen.

Fallen is the ABC Family Channel attempt to fill the void left opened when fantasy series like Xena Warrior Princess; Bully the Vampire Killer, Angel, and Beast Master ended their long reign in  both the fantasy and the sci-fi spheres of television alternate reality programming.

The story opens with Aaron Corbett, played by actor Paul Wesley, an adopted teenage boy who until his 18th birthday is your average high school senior. He is a member of the wrestling team, his grades and wrestling skills are so good that he is being sought after by different universities and to his special delight he has attracted to attention of the most popular girl in school, Vilma.

All appears grand in Aaron’s world except he soon learns that his destiny is to be rewritten and that his nightly dreams of a dark figure chasing him are no nightmares. Then couple these discoveries with the fact that he can speak with his dog and others animals as well as speak all languages with ease. He is soon befriended by a self-seeking fallen angel named Ezekiel “Zekes” who as a bum tells Aaron not only who he is but what he is, which is a Nephilim borne of one angel parent and one human parent. Once, again the Book of Enoch touch is in play within a storyline.

As the story goes on Aaron tried to fight his new found powers as well as the facts told to him by Zekes and the mysterious dark angel of his dreams, Camael, who was once a former Nephilim killer but who is now Aaron’s protector. Both Zekes and Camael believe that Aaron is the long awaited for and searched after  “Redeemer” of  prophecy who is said to possess the power the redeem all fallen angels from ages past and who fought along side you know who in the attempt to overthrow heaven.

Aaron understandably reject what the two angels tell him and tried to live his life as normal as possible. Nevertheless, he soon is forced to accept his destiny when the angel, Verchiel, is sent by the “Powers”, along with her hordes of angelic cutthroats to threaten Aaron’s adopted family. Talk about your misnomers or oxymorons. Her mission is  to find and destroy all of the Fallen and their Nephilim’s offspring.

Intrigued? I am! Furthermore, I will be tuning into ABC Family Channel in the summer of 2007 when they air the seven part mini-series of Fallen.

Fallen has the stuff to become a weekly series and its religious base theme makes it that much more of a temptation. I could not resist the pun or the fun. The television movie and its fore coming mini-series are based on a Thomas E. Sniegoski’s book called “The Fallen”, which is the first book in a series of four. The books are The Fallen, The Fallen: Aerie The Fallen: Leviathan, and The Fallen: Reckoning.

The cast of Fallen includes:

Aaron Corbett, Paul Wesley

Ezekiel “Zekes”, Tom Skerrit

Camael, Rick Worthy

Verchiel, Lisa Lackey

Vilma, Fernanda Andrade

The following link is to “Fallen” where there is more information on the movie. There is also an alternate reality game where players can save the damsel in distress. The community has a very serious (as in hair pulling) debate on the presenceof angels and their role among us mortals in its forum.

Changes

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn Here,

This is starting out as a crazy week for me in that I have many things that I must do and little time to spare. I am also in the process of making a major change in lifestyle. This is a planned and a much needed change. It will better my situation. As an older person, I was afraid at first to go out of my own, but I am learning to overcome such crippling fears.

I have taken on a second job, which I will start soon. I hope that it will help cover whatever additional expense I might encounter. I am feeling a very strange eagerness and happiness that I have not felt in years.

There are people in my life who do not  understand why I must go out my own, but I believe it is because I am older and that choosing to live alone at my age is either frowned on or a puzzle to others. To make it simple to all who disagree with my decision or do not understand the “why” of it, let me say this to you.

I thank you for your concern. However, I need happiness, and I have that now. In addition, I will not be as along as you might think. I have my son, wonderful friends, and my faith in Out Lord, Jesus, as well as the knowledge that HE is always with me.

As for my blog, it will remain active no matter where I am.

Lifeteen

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn Here,

I have had a very busy work week, and for Lifeteen I have just finished some preparations for tomorrow night's gathering. There is a skit in it that requires some graphic art. The graphic to the left is a collage of two Lifeteen core members. They are joined to a reproduction of a turn of the century painting of two bodybuilders. The artist of the original painting is unknown. I did five such collages in all, and two additional ones with Jesus as the central theme. I am very please with the results. Those seven collages took me 11 1/2 hours to create. Unreal, but I loved doing it.

Last week I performed for the first time in my live in one of the skits. I am no actress and never will be, but I had lots of fun, and so did the Lifeteen members.

Well, tomorrow will be another long day for me, so this is Goodnight!
