The Food and Drug Administration Recalls Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) Products

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn here,

Today, I read an email that stated that all over the counter medications, containing the drug addictive phenylpropanolamine (PPA) has been recalled by the Food and Drug Administration (FDA). Phenylpropanolamine (PPA) is commonly used in conjunction with the preparation of OTC nasal decongestants and weight control products. In addition, the FDA has requested that all drug companies discontinue marketing products containing PPA. Although the risks are low for men, the drug has been sited as causing an increase the risk of hemorrhagic stroke (bleeding into the brain or into tissue surrounding the brain) in women.

The email listed the following over-the counters drugs as containing the addictive phenylpropanolamine (PPA) and the FDA has asked that these drugs be discontinued. You are also asked to call 800-548-3708 with the lot number on the box medication, and you will be sent postage to send back for a refund.
