THREE KINGS DAY PROCLAMATION FROM GOVERNOR CHARLIE CRIS

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn here,

with an excerpt from  Governor Cris' latest "Notes From the Capital.

------------

Dear Friends,

I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a Happy New Year. The beginning of each year is always a time of excitement and anticipation. I look forward to another year of serving the people of Florida.

During the holidays, I was able to enjoy time with my family and friends while hunting for quail and fishing with my father. I was reminded once again of the beauty of our state, and how much she has to offer all of us.

As we begin 2008, one of my top priorities is making certain that Florida's economy continues to grow. Florida is a great place to visit, live and do business. I am committed to strengthening our business friendly climate and attracting high-wage jobs.

One way I plan to help our economy grow is by continuing to support and encourage energy efficiency. There is gold in green, and the technologies that help us be more energy efficient and use more renewable energy are good for our environment – and our economy, too.

As we strengthen Florida's economy and develop energy efficiency, we must also make sure that our young people have the skills and opportunities they need to succeed. I will continue to ensure that students gain a year's worth of knowledge in a year's time and that Florida's schools provide the best learning environment possible.

May God bless Florida throughout the coming year, and keep our state safe and our economy strong. Thanks so much.
