GOVERNOR CRIS SPEAKS ON THE ACCOMPLISHMENTS HIS OFFICE HAS MADE TO IMPROVE THE LIVES OF FLORIDIANS

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn here,

In this special message from Governor Cris speaks on the accomplishments his office has made to improve the lives of the citizens of Florida.

Dear Friend,

Next week, the Florida Legislature will gather in Tallahassee for the beginning of the 2008 Legislative Session. According to tradition, I will deliver the State of the State Address on the first day, next Tuesday, March 4, at a joint meeting of the House of Representatives and Senate.

This year, however, I have asked House Speaker Marco Rubio and Senate President Ken Pruitt to hold this joint meeting during the evening, rather than the morning as in years past. An evening address will give many Floridians the opportunity to watch the address live from their homes and learn more about the issues that affect them most.

During the past 14 months, we have lowered property taxes, renewed efforts to protect our natural environment, and opened government to new rays of sunshine. Our many accomplishments have improved the lives of Floridians, and I am grateful for the work and dedication of our Legislature and all the individuals in state government who tirelessly serve the citizens of our great state.

I invite you to tune in next Tuesday evening to learn how – with the help of the Florida Legislature – we can continue strengthening Florida’s families, schools and economy while also protecting our neighborhoods and natural resources.

I hope that you will join us next Tuesday evening. It is an honor to serve you, and I look forward to working with the 2008 Legislature for the good of the people of Florida.
