No Boom Cars, Please!

Noise OFF: The Citizens Coalition Against Noise Pollution

Hello Everyone,

Evelyn here,

With a sincere message from me to you.

I am wife, mother, secretary, webmaster, and freelance journalist, who is being victimized by teenage boom car driver and his family. I have just joined Noise OFF to share my experiences with people who understand the problems and the effects boom cars drivers have on a neighborhood and on an individual as well.

Why have I joined a group whose aim is to help in the fights to stamp out the problems that boom car’s drivers create?

I have joined Noise OFF because local law enforcement cannot solve the problems alone. They need reliable people to report each incident, educate others in the community on the threat boom car’s drivers pose, and pass on intelligent and proven solutions.

I suppose like many others members I am the victim of noise pollution in my neighborhood. This is an on going situation that began a few years ago wit some neighborhood who play they automobile sound system so loud that I can heard it blocks away. At presence, there is a teenage boy, who has little respect for his neighbors on a good day and no respect for them when asked not to do something that is clearly against the laws. Nevertheless, his mother does not dissuade him from his illegal acts and other families member, lately he is being encouraged by some neighbors who until recently sold illegal drugs openly on ours streets.

I have report this young boy to the police department many times, and they have informed this youth and his mother that he must stop because he is breaking law. However, this teenage and his families are not listening to anyone who is on their side. Hence, the bad influence from up the street.

I am told by the police department to keep calling and reporting this young boy’s sound loud music and any other loud music coming from “boom cars.” This I do, but there is little to no respect for law enforcement on these streets and avenues where these problems originate.

Hopefully, by posting links to some of the site where more informationabout boom cars, loud music, and law enforcement role in control such offenders will help other in my area join me in getting our streets and avenue back to the peaceful level of common noises we can tolerate.

Below are a few links to sites that explain the more about “Boom Car Drivers”, the law governing noise with the state of Florida and some cases history and solutions.

Regardless of the age of these articles, the Florida's laws on Boom Cars and loud noise remains enforceable. If you doubt it, ask your local police department.
