Notes From the Capitol May 2, 2008 |

Dear Friends,
This week completed our legislative regular session. I’m proud of the work the House and Senate have done to protect Florida in this tough economic time.
I am grateful to the Legislature for passing green energy
legislation that will help increase
energy efficiency and our use of renewable energy throughout Florida. It will also provide a strategy for
businesses to reduce greenhouse gas emissions.
The legislation signifies our commitment to protect Florida’s
natural beauty and stimulate our economy, as well as reduce our dependence on
foreign sources of oil.
This legislation builds on the policy framework established
by the Executive Orders I signed last summer at the Serve to Preserve Florida
Summit on Global Climate Change.
Earlier this week, I announced the 2008 Serve to Preserve
Florida Summit on Global Climate Change to be held June 25-26, in
Miami. The 2008 summit will focus
on stimulating economic development in clean technologies as well as “greening”
Florida’s business community.
For more information on the 2008 Summit,
orto register for the conference, visit www.myfloridaclimate.com.
Florida’s
natural and green energy resources are vital to the continued growth of our
economy, and it is important that we all do our part.
Thank you, and may God continue to bless our beautiful Florida. The summit will bring Florida businesses and individuals together to focus on developing new technology that will create green energy and stimulate Florida’s economy.
